Communications Intern Description

 

Overview: United Golfers Association (UGA) [Founded in 1925] is a non-profit organization that is committed to increasing the introduction, development and advancement of African American youth to the sport of golf. The UGA Developmental Golf Academy will provide these golfers with the resources and direction to cultivate their passion for the sport as competitors and professionals in the industry. The UGA Golf Academy is designed to prepare them mentally, physically and professionally to compete as Future Tour Players and Golf Professionals throughout the world.

 

Responsibilities

  • The Communications intern will be responsible for creating content, research, and drafting communications materials.

  • Support the team in developing and executing media strategies

  • Daily tasks may include conducting research, drafting and formatting written deliverables, designing and editing graphics

  • Capturing photos and video, writing and developing content for social media and other digital channels.

  • Assist in conducting research across various issue areas in support of Foundation communications.

  • Assist with planning, logistics, speaker coordination and digital coverage for various critical moments on the UGA calendar, partner and golf community activities (e.g., Communications Corps) and special events.

  • Gain hands-on experience about all stages of the planning process for large domestic and international events, including assisting with designing materials, liaising with vendors and venues, and providing onsite support.

  • Complete a unique project based on team needs and candidate’s interest.

  • Assist in Public Affairs database management.

  • Support the overall work of the Communications Team.

 

Compensation

  • Intern will receive monthly stipend and experience

 

Requirements

  • Interest in non-profit work

  • Part-time (10/15 hours/week) (Eastern time zone).

  • Passion for golf, social media, marketing, and advocacy work the industry

  • Experience in communications or media relations

  • Proven quick and thorough research and writing ability

  • Extremely organized and detail oriented

  • Proven capacity to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment with tight deadlines

  • Exhibits personal qualities, such as open-mindedness, enthusiasm, and adaptability

Job Type: Internship

 

Experience:

  • Social Media Management: 1 year (Required)

 

Education:

  • College – Communications, Journalism, Marketing, and Entrepreneurship majors are preferred

 

Required Schedule:

  • Part-time (10/15 hours/week) (Eastern time zone).

 

Work Location:

  • Fully Remote
